al-Nasir Hasan (Sultan Hasan)
Mamluk sultan, a son of al-Nasir Muhammad, who reigned twice (1347–1351 and 1354–1361). Raised to the throne at twelve, he was a figurehead of the great amirs until he was deposed in 1351; restored in 1354, he purged the leading amirs, promoted the sons of mamluks (awlad al-nas) and began the great mosque-madrasa that bears his name. He was killed by his own mamluk Yalbugha al-Umari in March 1361.
