Person1285–1341
al-Nasir Muhammad
Mamluk sultan of Egypt and Syria, a son of Qalawun, who reigned three times (1293–1294, 1299–1309 and 1310–1341). Twice a figurehead in the hands of powerful amirs, he returned from al-Karak in 1310 and ruled alone for three decades — a period that historians regard as the height of Mamluk power, marked by peace with the Ilkhans and great building in Cairo.
