Cao Cao
Warlord and poet of the late Eastern Han who took Emperor Xian under his control in 196, unified northern China and ruled it in the emperor’s name as Imperial Chancellor (from 208), Duke of Wei (213) and King of Wei (216); his son Cao Pi founded the state of Wei.
