Didda

Queen of Kashmir, a princess of Lohara and, through her mother, a granddaughter of the Shahi king Bhima. The wife of King Kshemagupta (950–958), she ruled from 958 as regent for her son and three grandsons and from 980/981 as queen in her own name until her death in 1003, and secured the succession of her nephew Samgramaraja, the founder of the Lohara dynasty. Her story is known from Kalhana’s 12th-century chronicle, the Rajatarangini.
