Eastern Ganga dynasty

Dynasty that ruled Kalinga, on the east coast of India, from as early as the 5th century. From Anantavarman Chodaganga, who succeeded in 1078 and built the Jagannath Temple at Puri, its kings held a large realm with Cuttack among its capitals; their rule ended in 1434–1435, when the minister Kapilendra seized power and founded the Gajapati dynasty.
