Gallienus
Roman emperor (253–268), co-ruler with his father Valerian until 260; during his sole reign the West broke away under Postumus. He ended the persecution of Christians, was a patron of the philosopher Plotinus and was murdered by his officers while besieging Mediolanum (Milan).
