Ibn Battuta
Maghrebi Muslim traveller and scholar from Tangier who between 1325 and 1354 journeyed across much of Africa and Asia and visited the Iberian Peninsula — from Mecca, Anatolia and the Golden Horde to Delhi, the Maldives and, by his account, China, and finally to Mali. After his return, in 1354–1355, he dictated the account known as the Rihla.
