Kalhana
Kashmiri poet and historian of the 12th century, the son of Champaka, who had commanded the frontier defences of King Harsha of Kashmir (1089–1101). In 1148–1150 he wrote the Rajatarangini, a Sanskrit verse chronicle of the kings of Kashmir from legendary times to his own day, which historians regard as unrivalled among the Indian historical works of its age.
