Kingdom of Great Zimbabwe
Shona kingdom of the Zimbabwe plateau with its capital at Great Zimbabwe; at its height more than 150 smaller stone-walled centres (zimbabwes) were tributary to its sacred king, and it dominated the routes of the gold trade with the Swahili coast.
