Kumārajīva
Buddhist monk, scholar and translator from the kingdom of Kucha. In 384 the Former Qin general Lü Guang carried him off from Kucha; from about 401 he led a team in Chang’an that translated many Sanskrit Buddhist texts into Chinese.
