Li Yuanhao (Emperor Jingzong of Western Xia)
Tangut ruler and founding emperor of the Western Xia (r. 1038–1048). Leader of the Tanguts from 1032, he won the Hexi Corridor, replaced the Chinese surnames of his clan with the Tangut name Weiming, promulgated a Tangut script and in 1038 proclaimed himself emperor of the Great Xia; after years of war with the Song he made peace in 1044, and he died in 1048 of a wound inflicted by his son.
