Varahamihira
Indian astronomer and astrologer of the 6th century from the region of Ujjain, son of Adityadasa. His Pancha-siddhantika summarises five astronomical systems current in his time, two of them derived from Greek astronomy, and his Brihat-samhita is an encyclopaedia of omens and astrology that also covers architecture, gems, perfumes and agriculture.
