Abd al-Rahman ibn Rustam
Ibadi scholar of Persian descent, raised in Kairouan and trained in Basra, who governed Kairouan for the Ibadi imam Abu al-Khattab in 758–761, then founded Tahert and in 776–778 was elected imam of the Ibadis of the Maghreb, becoming the founder of the Rustamid dynasty. He died in the 780s.
