Al-Amin

Muhammad ibn Harun al-Amin, sixth Abbasid caliph (809–813), son of Harun al-Rashid and the Abbasid princess Zubayda. Named his father’s first heir, with his elder half-brother al-Ma'mun to follow him and to govern Khorasan, he removed al-Ma'mun from the succession in 810, lost the civil war that followed and was put to death on the orders of al-Ma'mun’s general Tahir ibn al-Husayn when Baghdad fell in September 813.
