Al-Fadl ibn Yahya al-Barmaki
Eldest son of Yahya ibn Khalid, the Barmakid vizier of Harun al-Rashid, and Harun’s foster brother. He governed Tabaristan, Rayy and in 794–796 Khorasan, and was tutor to the heir al-Amin; Ibn Khaldun credits him with introducing the manufacture of paper in Baghdad. He shared his family’s fall in 803 and died in prison at Raqqa.
