Chandragupta I
Gupta ruler of the early 4th century (reigned c. 319–335 by a common estimate), son of Ghatotkacha and grandson of the dynasty’s founder Gupta. The first of his house to take the imperial title maharajadhiraja, he married the Licchavi princess Kumaradevi; the Gupta era of 318/319 or 319/320 is usually, though not certainly, linked with his accession.
