Gupta Empire
Empire of northern India ruled by the Gupta dynasty. It grew from the Ganges valley under Chandragupta I (the Gupta era, beginning in 318/319 or 319/320, is usually linked with his accession), Samudragupta and Chandragupta II and lasted until the mid-6th century; the period is often called the classical age of India.
