Dnyaneshwar
Marathi poet-saint and philosopher (1275–1296 by tradition), born near Paithan; author of the Dnyaneshwari, a commentary on the Bhagavad Gita, and of the Amrutanubhav. He is revered as one of the founders of the Varkari devotional movement; according to tradition, he entered samadhi at Alandi in 1296.
