Eight Deer Jaguar Claw
Mixtec ruler of the 11th and early 12th centuries, known from the painted codices, whose dates, as reconstructed, are 1063–1115. The son of a priest of Tilantongo, he founded a kingdom at Tututepec on the Pacific coast, took Tilantongo in the Mixteca Alta and, by the count of the Codex Zouche-Nuttall, conquered 94 places — the only ruler to unite the highland, lowland and coastal Mixteca — before he was killed in 1115.
