Emirate of Córdoba
The independent Umayyad state in al-Andalus with its capital at Córdoba, founded by Abd al-Rahman I in 756; in 929 Abd al-Rahman III proclaimed himself caliph, and the emirate became the Caliphate of Córdoba.
