Harishena (Vakataka king)
The last known king of the Vatsagulma branch of the Vakataka dynasty of the Deccan and the most powerful of its rulers: an inscription of his minister Varahadeva at Ajanta credits him with influence over Kuntala, Avanti, Kalinga, Kosala, Lata, Andhra and Trikuta. He was the great patron of the later caves of Ajanta. Walter Spink dates his reign to c. 460–477; other works place it c. 475–500 or c. 480–510.
