Person
Jayavarman IV
Khmer king who reigned from Koh Ker (Chok Gargyar, Lingapura) from 921 — as sole king from 928 — until his death in 941; his posthumous name was Paramashivapada. A maternal uncle of King Ishanavarman II and the husband of Jayadevi, a (half-)sister of Yashovarman I, he was regarded by George Coedès as a usurper, while other historians see him as a legitimate claimant. He built the colossal temple complex of Prasat Thom for the royal linga.
