Kim Dae-seong
Silla aristocrat and high minister under King Gyeongdeok; according to a legend in the Samguk yusa he was the son of a poor woman, reborn after his death in the house of the minister Kim Mullyang. In 751 he began building Bulguksa near Gyeongju, and the Seokguram grotto is also attributed to him; he died on 8 January 775 — the 2nd day of the 12th lunar month of 774 — and the state completed the work.
