Rædwald
King of the East Angles from about 599 until his death around 624 and from about 616 overlord (bretwalda) of the southern English kingdoms. Baptized in Kent, he kept a pagan altar beside the Christian one; he is the most likely man to have been buried in the Sutton Hoo ship.
