Sahak Partev (Isaac of Armenia)
Catholicos (head) of the Armenian Church from about 387 (deposed by the Persians in 428) and the last patriarch descended from Gregory the Illuminator; he encouraged Mesrop Mashtots to create the Armenian alphabet and himself translated parts of the Bible. His daughter’s son was Vardan Mamikonian.
