Sicán (Lambayeque) culture
Archaeological culture of the north coast of Peru (about 750–1375), named by Izumi Shimada and also called the Lambayeque culture. Its Middle phase (900–1100), centred on the temple mounds of Batán Grande in the La Leche valley, is famed for its metalwork; the Late Sicán capital was Túcume, and about 1375 the region fell to the Chimú.
