Southern Han

One of the Ten Kingdoms of 10th-century China, founded in 917 by Liu Yan, who first called it Yue and in 918 renamed it Han; its capital was Xingwang (Guangzhou), and it held Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan. It took the former Tang protectorate of Annam in 930 but lost it in 931, and in 938 its fleet was destroyed by Ngô Quyền on the Bạch Đằng River. The Song conquered it in 971.
