Vladimir the Bold

Prince of Serpukhov from 1358, a grandson of Ivan Kalita and the cousin and closest ally of Dmitry Donskoy. He fought beside Dmitry at Kulikovo — later tradition credits him with leading the ambush regiment that decided the battle — and in 1382, when Tokhtamysh sacked Moscow, routed one of the khan's detachments near Volok.
