Xie An
Statesman of the Eastern Jin from the Xie clan of Chen. For years he lived as a recluse, refusing office — he was among the guests of the Orchid Pavilion Gathering at Kuaiji in 353; later, as the leading minister, he directed the defence against the Former Qin that ended in the victory on the Fei River (383).
