Yashovarman (Chandella)

Chandella king of Jejakabhukti (c. 925–950), also called Lakshavarman, the son of Harsha. Still nominally a vassal of the Gurjara-Pratiharas, from whose king Devapala he received a famous image of Vishnu, he took the fortress of Kalanjara and pushed his frontier to the Yamuna; the Khajuraho inscription of about 954 credits him with victories from Bengal to Kashmir. He built the temple of Vishnu as Vaikuntha at Khajuraho, now called the Lakshmana temple.
