Yijing

Chinese Buddhist monk of the Tang era, born Zhang Wenming. In 671–695 he sailed to India by way of Srivijaya, studied for about ten years at Nalanda and in Srivijaya wrote his record of Buddhist practice in India and the Southern Seas and his biographies of Chinese pilgrim monks; back in China, he translated some sixty Buddhist works.
