Ala al-Din Husayn

Ghurid ruler from 1149 to 1161, in whose reign Firuzkuh in Ghor became the capital of the dynasty. To avenge his brothers, killed by the Ghaznavid sultan Bahram Shah, he sacked and burned Ghazni in 1150 or 1151 and earned the name Jahansuz, ‘the World-Burner’. In 1152 he refused tribute to the Seljuk sultan Sanjar, was defeated and captured at Nab in the Hari Rud valley and spent two years as a prisoner.
