Ghurids
Persianate dynasty of eastern Iranian origin from the hills of Ghor in central Afghanistan. Long vassals of the Ghaznavids and the Seljuks, the Ghurids broke free in the mid-12th century — Ala al-Din Husayn sacked Ghazni in 1150 or 1151 — and under the brothers Ghiyath al-Din and Muhammad of Ghor built an empire (1175–1215) that took Lahore from the last Ghaznavids and opened northern India to Muslim rule.
