Bumin Qaghan
Chief of the Ashina Turks, called Tumen in the Chinese histories and Bumin in the Old Turkic inscriptions. A vassal of the Rouran, he defeated the Tiele as they marched against his overlords, allied himself with the Western Wei and in 552 crushed the Rouran, taking the title Illig Qaghan — the founder of the Turkic Khaganate. He died the same year.
