Chaulukyas of Gujarat (Solankis)
Dynasty that ruled Gujarat and parts of Rajasthan from Anahilavada (modern Patan) from about 940, when its founder Mularaja supplanted the last Chavda king, until 1244. Under Bhima I it suffered Mahmud of Ghazni’s raid on Somnath but recovered, and at times its rule extended to Malwa; Jain and Hindu temples such as the sun temple of Modhera were built under its kings.
