Chionites (Xionites)
Nomadic people of Transoxiana and Bactria, first mentioned by Ammianus Marcellinus. In the 350s they attacked the Sasanian east and then, under their king Grumbates, fought for Shapur II at the siege of Amida (359); they are often linked with the Huna of Indian sources.
