Igor Sviatoslavich
Son of Sviatoslav Olgovich, prince of Novgorod-Seversky from 1180 and of Chernihiv from 1198 until his death in 1201 or 1202. As a young prince he took part with his brother Oleg in the sack of Kyiv in 1169. His failed campaign against the Cumans in 1185, which ended with his capture near the Kayala and his escape from captivity, is the subject of the Tale of Igor’s Campaign.
