Kadamba dynasty
Dynasty founded by Mayurasharma around 345 that ruled northern Karnataka and the Konkan from Banavasi — the first native kingdom of the Karnataka region and one of the first to use Kannada in inscriptions. From about 540 its kings were vassals of the Chalukyas of Badami.
