Kingdom of Kediri (Panjalu)
Javanese kingdom with its capital at Daha (modern Kediri) in the Brantas valley of East Java, one of the two states, Panjalu and Janggala, into which Airlangga divided his realm in the 1040s. By the late 11th century it apparently held the ports of the coast and represented Java to Chinese merchants, and its court saw a flowering of Old Javanese poetry, including the Hariwangsa and the Bharatayuddha. Ken Arok defeated its last king at Ganter in 1221, and by 1222 Kediri had fallen to Singhasari, the kingdom he founded.
