Khazar Khaganate
Turkic nomadic empire of the lower Volga, the Don and the North Caucasus (c. 650–969) with its capital at Atil; its rulers adopted Judaism, it took tribute from East Slavic tribes and controlled the Volga trade until the campaigns of Sviatoslav.
