Krishna III
Rashtrakuta king (939 – 967/968), also called Kannara, the son of Amoghavarsha III and the last great ruler of his dynasty. With the Western Ganga king Butuga II, the husband of his sister, he defeated the Cholas at Takkolam in 949 and held the northern Tamil country for most of his reign; his records style him ‘conqueror of Kanchi and Tanjore’. He also intervened in Vengi and in central India and was a patron of Kannada poets such as Ponna.
