Krum
Khan of Bulgaria (from sometime between 796 and 803 until 814), under whom the Bulgarian realm doubled in size. He took Serdica (809), destroyed the army of Nikephoros I (811) and routed Michael I at Versinikia (813), and died in April 814 while preparing an attack on Constantinople.
