Lý dynasty
Vietnamese dynasty founded in 1009 by Lý Công Uẩn (Lý Thái Tổ), who in 1010 moved the capital from Hoa Lư to Thăng Long, the future Hanoi. Its first three kings presided over six decades of internal peace and growing royal power; the dynasty renamed the state Đại Việt in 1054, fought Champa and, in 1075–1077, the Song empire, and ruled until 1225, when the throne passed to the Trần.
