Lý Bí (Lý Nam Đế)
Leader of the rising of 541–548 against the Liang in northern Vietnam, called Li Ben in the Chinese histories. In 544 he proclaimed himself emperor — Nam Việt Đế, ruler of Vạn Xuân, in the Vietnamese annals; defeated by the Liang general Chen Baxian in 545–546, he died in the hills in 548. Vietnamese tradition honours him as the founder of the Early Lý dynasty.
