Mazdak
Zoroastrian priest (mobad), son of Bamdad, who under Kavad I led the religious and social movement named after him: he preached a dualist faith and the sharing of property and was put to death with many of his followers in the 520s. Contemporary Greek and Syriac writers do not name him, and some scholars doubt the traditional picture.
