Richard I of England
Richard the Lionheart, son of Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine, king of England from 1189 to 1199 and lord of wide lands in France. In the Third Crusade he took Cyprus, helped to take Acre and defeated Saladin in the field, but ended his campaign in 1192 without retaking Jerusalem; captured on his way home, he was ransomed in 1194.
