Roger I of Sicily
Youngest son of Tancred of Hauteville, who came to southern Italy in 1057 and with his brother Robert Guiscard conquered Sicily from its Muslim rulers between 1061 and 1091, ruling it as count under Robert's overlordship. In 1091 he also made Malta tributary; his son Roger II became the first king of Sicily.
