Normans
People of the Duchy of Normandy, born of the mixing of Norse settlers with the West Frankish population after Rollo's settlement there (911). In the 11th century Normans conquered southern Italy and Sicily and, under William the Conqueror, England (1066), and they took part in the First Crusade.
