Satuq Bughra Khan
Abd al-Karim Satuq Bughra Khan, a prince of the Turkic dynasty known to historians as the Karakhanids, remembered as the first of its khans to accept Islam. According to legend, he was converted in secret by a Muslim from Bukhara, overthrew his uncle and stepfather Oghulchak and took Kashgar. He died in 955 or 956, and his tomb at Artush near Kashgar is still a place of pilgrimage. Almost everything told of his life comes from legends, the oldest of them recorded in the 13th century by Jamal Qarshi.
