Sylvester of Vydubychi
Abbot of the Vydubychi Monastery of St Michael near Kyiv, who noted that in 1116, in the reign of Vladimir Monomakh, he had written ‘this book, the Chronicler’, and asked its readers to remember him in their prayers; according to A. A. Shakhmatov he made the second redaction of the Tale of Bygone Years, the one preserved in the Laurentian copy. He became bishop of Pereiaslav in 1119 and died on 12 April 1123.
